Film Magazine Front Cover Planning Sheet

Film Magazine Front cover - Planning Sheet

Main image: What is the main image going to be? What type of shot composition/angle etc?

  • The main image is going to be a close up of one of the characters from my trailer and will have a dark background (blue, grey or black). This therefore conforms to the conventions of traditional psychological thriller films which attracts and markets it to a specific target audience.

Name of magazine: What are the connotations of the title?

  • The first option for the name of my film magazine is “Zoom” which is a camera shot used in film production. I have decided to call it this because it represents a change in size, which will reinforce the increasing popularity of psychological thrillers which is what my magazine will mainly feature.
  • My second option is “Reflexions” which is a unique spelling for “reflections.” I have made this my second option because reflections are one of the repertoire of elements of a psychological thriller which therefore markets to the target audience of psychological thriller films.

Colour scheme:

  • The colour scheme of my magazine will be dark, as it will be a psychological thriller film magazine and will therefore include colours such as grey, black and blue.

Headline: What is the headline and how does it match the film/actor etc.

  • The headline will be "What happens when you're chosen?" or "Who will escape first?." The first headline links to the film because the title of the film is Electus which means "The Chosen Ones" in latin, therefore the repetition of the word "chosen" will reinforce the title of the film. The second headline matches the actor because it suggests that the character has a violent and psychotic nature, hence why he/she has trapped individuals whom now need to escape.

Sell lines: reference to other films/actors/directors/ film festivals.

  • "Taye Giggs' Exclusive Interview on Til Death Do us Part"
  • "Psychological thrller Special - Get Out"

Banners/splash: other features, competitions etc.

  • "Happy Death Day, Everything you need to know"
  • "The Top 50 Greatest Movies of all time"
  • "20 Movies that will leave you mind-blown"

Magazine tagline:

  • "The hallucinatory issue" - This is because hallucinations is an element that may be present in psychological thriller movies

Other info: (price, date of issue etc)

  • The price of my magazine will be £3.99 which is considered to be the typical price of film magazines.
  • The date of issue will be December 2017
